To Caucus Or NOT To Caucus...

Alright!  I'll tell you, I'm NOT a republican.  I have been a registered Democrat since I became a registered voter.  Through my desire to try and find change for my family, and community I changed my registration and am now "Unaffiliated".  I was too ill to attend the Democratic Caucus on Tuesday evening.  Thursday evening approached much faster than I had anticipated, and attending the meeting was something I found myself truly dreading.  We, (my nine year old daughter and myself) arrived at Kearns High School approximately 30 minutes before the meeting was to begin and entered a packed parking lot, eventually making our way back out of the parking lot to find a space on the side of the road.  Having signed up the night before I knew which district I was located in and found my place in the many lines formed for the different districts.  After "signing in" we eventually found our way up the stairs, around the corner, and tucked aw...

RedState's Erickson Is Off The Palin Bandwagon

RedState's Erick Erickson, who was tapped by CNN to be the voice of "netroots conservatism," has  had enough : To paraphrase Ann, a lot of us fell in love with Sarah Palin because of her enemies* and a lot of us have fallen out of love with Sarah Palin because of her fans...To not bow at the throne of Sarah [Palin] you get disowned. You get attacked. You have people drum up stories attacking your credibility. “Oh, Perry announced at his event, he must be bought and paid for,” etc. Ironically, some of the very people going after this site’s and my credibility — claiming we’re pressured to do things by higher ups at Eagle Publishing — are people who were on payrolls advocating for clients while refusing to disclose potential conflicts among other things.  Whether Palin will actually get into the race or not, it's worth noting that the left aren't the only people less than thrilled at what "their" party is apparently planning (or not planni...

Dodge A Bullet, Get Tagged By A Beanbag

The fix is in! From Lee Davidson ( for the Tribun e): Republicans plan to let Democrats win a small battle or two but force them to lose the overall war on Wednesday as the Legislature’s Redistricting Committee debates new Utah Senate districts... Republicans plan to let Democrats win a small battle or two but force them to lose the overall war on Wednesday as the Legislature’s Redistricting Committee debates new Utah Senate districts... Republicans do plan to add a seat in Utah County by consoli dating  the Senate’s current seven Democratic districts — all in Salt Lake County — into six, eliminating one.  It's good that the UT GOP has agreed to leave Senator Robles' seat alone: a merger with Davis County would have been insane enough to attract unwelcome scrutiny (even in this state). Senator Robles' district on Salt Lake's west side has absolutely nothing in common with Senator Liljenquist's Davis County district, and combining the two would have been bad fo...

In Their Own Words

A wise man once coined the maxim de mortuis, nil nisi bonum, and we here at RedState have always made an effort to let even the death of even the most contemptible of our political foes pass without a word of criticism. - RS Insider, RedState, 11:45 AM EDT *Pause for laughter* I can’t say that I’ll miss him. He, to me, represented all that is wrong with Washington — a kingdom of nepotism and worship at the alter of failed liberal policies that get repeated ad infinitum...John Kerry is now the senior [Massachusetts] senator. God help that state. - Erick Erickson, RedState, 8:43 AM EDT ...Ted Kennedy, a man whose personal life ranged from alcoholism to debauchery to sexual harrassment to (sadly, uncharged) second-degree murder, and whose public career entailed the embrace of nearly every foolish, ruinous and cruel political idea of the past five decades... - Dan McLaughlin, RedState, 11:12 AM EDT Insofar as he was a man of any religious faith at all, he was nominally a Catholic, a faith ...
