WND's Jerome Corsi Triples Down On The Crazy

posted 4/23/2012 by the Salt City Sinner Oh, World Net Daily ! Where would I be without you? Saner, less stressed, certainly less amused - on the whole, I'm glad WND exists in the same way I'm sure that Karl Rove and Frank Luntz do a little fat-boy tap dance whenever the New Black Panther Party issues a press release expressing their support for this or that lefty cause. The three top evil homunculi at WND are Big Joe Farah (known for his mustache and hilarious claims to 'journalistic integrity'), Aaron Klein (known for rolling tape whenever some 13-year-old Yemeni terrorist is talking about Islam and then reporting that as mainstream Islamic doctrine straight from the mouth of Allah), and "Dr." Jerome Corsi, who is slightly too batshit insane to categorize in a simple manner. "Dr." Corsi is perhaps best known for two things: first, as the father of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth , and secondly, as the father of the 'Birther

#OSLC Scrapbooking

Posted 4/19/2012 by the Salt City Sinner I was asked to write a few words regarding #OSLC that may or may not be posted elsewhere. I thought that it might be a nice thing to share it here. Buckle up! .... Let's set the clock back just a bit. The year was 2008, and being the news junky that I am, it was impossible not to notice the fact that the stock market had dumped 777 points in one day. It was the beginning of “the financial crisis.” I had no idea what a credit default swap was, nor did I know what a mortgage-backed security was. If you asked me what Goldman Sachs was, I would have guessed a law firm in Layton, or a jeweler's in Ogden. In 2008, I had never filed for unemployment. I had half-heartedly attended a few political rallies when I was attending a liberal arts college in Arkansas in the early 2000s, and was (I would boast) more well-informed about politics than most of my peers – being a Political Science major will do that to you. "Straw Hat And Old Dirty Hankies, Mopping The Face Like A Shoe"

posted on 4/15/2012 by the Salt City Sinner Spring! Spring is here, and it's time to plant cold weather crops . I garden for a living (more on that some other time), and this time of year I eat, sleep, breathe and dream gardening. In addition to refugee gardens at eight community garden sites throughout the Salt Lake City area - with our most far-flung garden located in the misty, legendary Kingdom of Magna - I have my own plot at the newly minted Sugar House Community Gardens , near my parents' place, located on what used to be a decrepit tennis court near Fairmont Park. Yes sir, I am Loyal to my Soil: That's after a light watering and a turning of the first six inches of topsoil. Despite what some garden guides say, and what some gardeners believe, I have heard frequently enough from enough Master Gardeners (yes, that's a technical title you have to earn) that only the top six inches of soil needs serious cultivation / tampering. That soil right

The Future's So Dark, I Might As Well Wear Shades

Posted 4/10/2012, by the Salt City Sinner Of the qualities that I like least about myself, the primary one is arrogance. That may come as a surprise to friends or even the most casual acquaintances of mine, who probably see me as  a proudly arrogant son of a gun. I'm working on it, the way a person works on a diet, or a fancy new yoga routine. Speaking of said yoga routine, one of the most arrogant beliefs that I held for the longest time was my hard-core, take-no-prisoners, avast-ye-mateys atheism. Over the last year or so I have undergone a transformation (largely due to the writings of the unquestionably brilliant and arguably insane Grant Morrison ) from atheism to a sort of polytheism/pantheism that has also involved a fascination with, and an ongoing but thorough investigation of, the occult. Don't judge. me after reading Grant Morrison me before reading Grant Morrison There are many types of divination available to the dedicated magician and the skeptic

An Occupy Easter

Posted 4/9/2012, by ViewFinder Easter at Occupy was lovely, complete with a knitting lesson, chicken dinner,  fresh strawberries                       and bare feet on the grass. Thank you OccupySLC for sharing a beautiful Easter afternoon with us!

Spring Brings Out The Drummers

While at Occupy for an Easter visit some of the Occupants mentioned their desire to join the rendezvous at Liberty Park believing that the Drum Circle should be out in full force.  Only one child in tow with me today we had plenty of room to take a few others for the drive over to Liberty. As we walked from 1100 East where we parked on the street over to the East side of the park I could hear the beating of the drums getting louder.  The louder they became the harder my heart began to pound- excitement was flowing through me. We joined the drum circle but only after passing by several other small gatherings of friends and families.  It was a warm and sun shiny day- perfect for Easter and springtime gatherings.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     I had no idea what a large grou

Occupy Library Square

4/6/2012 Occupy Salt Lake City moved from Gallivan Center to Library Square.  Despite what some "news" reports state- I am here to tell you- Occupy is ALIVE AND WELL!  In fact, not just alive and well, but the vibe there is nothing less than amazing.  There is a completely different energy at Library Square.  You can see the sky, and trees, birds, flowers, and PEOPLE that smile and engage you- not just concrete and sky scrapers. The core members of OccupySLC were mostly present and accounted for- coloring eggs, singing and laughing.  It is a beautiful environment. As people walk, ride, drive by the Occupants wave, smile and greet them.  It was so nice to see the response from those walking by and riding by on bicycles, some stopped just to return the greeting.  I sincerely believe the change of scenery is a huge benefit to the movement in the Salt Lake valley,   giving a much needed opportunity to engage passers by. As Easter and Spring are in the air it was not

Who Is Utah's BEST Street Side Advertiser- TAKE 2!

I was twenty-one years of age the first time I saw a man standing on the side of the street holding a sign to advertise a local business.  California the place and the year 1998.  I thought it strange to stand on the side of the road, next to cars speeding by.  Not only strange, but scary. Only 2-3 years ago did street side advertising take a front seat on my side of town.  When I was younger I heard my Home Economics Teacher say "Utah is behind the times about ten years", so that would make sense. At times I drove by and saw their brightly colored signs telling me to do my taxes... reminding me that they have an "Open Bay" at the local car shop, and even "$5.00 Pizza!".  Other times I drove by and noticed a person, not necessarily the sign, many of them standing still... stiff as a board, earphones on and/or a cell phone in one of their hands (one handed texting). Approximately six months ago late summer or early fall, while driving home from work

A Perfectly Reasonable, Intelligent Article By World Net Daily's Joe Kovacs

"Idiot wind, blowin' every time you move your teeth You're an idiot, babe   It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe."   Bob Dylan, "Idiot Wind" Big Joe Kovacs likes to bang out the occasional column (and more than occasional New Age Christian Self Help Book ) at Big Joe Farah's WorldNetDaily , a publication of some repute that   I believe   I have   commented on   a time   or two  before. As with Glenn Beck, there will eventually come a point at which I have to take a few steps back from WND, which (and this is my coinage, thank you very much) is the most right-wing website on the entire Internet other than Stormfront. WND likes to keep the Christian Identity and white supremacy nestled beneath a decorative frosting of "legitimacy." What does Joe Kovacs do to keep things spicy? Oh, well, how abou- Wait, I ... what? Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Candle Light Vigil

April 4, 2012- 6:30 PM. Citizens of Salt Lake and surrounding areas met on the stairs of the Utah State Capitol to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the Fourty-Fourth anniversary of his death. A man known for his "Dream," and his untimely passing, left a true legacy. The night started out with a prayer and two lovely musical performances- a solo by Shelly Smith which brought most of the crowd to their feet singing along, and the One Voice Youth Choir, who performed "I Need Thee Every Hour." The Keynote speaker was Dr. Roderic R. Land , a member of the teaching staff at the University of Utah.  Dr. Land expressed to the crowd the importance of being involved in our local community, knowing our representatives and "being the change that we need," as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was.  To raise money for the Utah Luther King Jr. foundation, t-shirts are available at the low price of $10.00 each (although they were not sold on the Capit
